James Thomas Carson was born on November 21, 1934, to Chase and Florence (Crews) Carson in Moorhead, Iowa. He attended country school growing up and graduated from Pisgah High School in 1952. After high school James enlisted in the United States Navy where he faithfully served for six years. On June 22, 1959, James married Joy Dilley in Council Bluffs at the Methodist Church. They lived in Council Bluffs and Jim worked for Pete’s Feed, driving truck and hauling seed. Jim and Joy moved to Pisgah in 1965. It was there Jim started working for Griffiths Trans and Cooperation.
Jim and Joy were members of the Community of Christ Church in Pisgah. Jim was also a member of the American Legion. Jim loved to read and he was a wonderful story teller. He especially enjoyed history.
Jim died at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and three days.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vernon Carson and Gary Carson; Jim is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Joy; three children, Bethene and Todd Rounds of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gaylene and Art Van Wey of Lakewood, Washington, and Chris and Chrystal Carson of Bellevue, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Storm of Pisgah, Iowa; sister-in-law, Joyce Carson of Scottsdale, Arizona; many other relatives and friends.
