James Johnson

James Arthur Johnson was born October 2, 1927, to Roy and Inez (McWilliams) Johnson in Pisgah, Iowa. He was raised in Pisgah and Iowa City. He graduated from an Iowa City high school. Jim worked as a mechanic at a Chevy dealership in Iowa City as well as the Rosen Novak Chevy dealership in Omaha and the Seabury Chevy dealership in Pisgah. He then worked at Swain Ford and Eddie Johnson Ford. Jim married Rosalie Lorraine Headley on July 4, 1950. Jim proudly served his country in the National Guard from 1950 - 1955. He served as a sharpshooter.

Jim enjoyed boxing when he was in high school. He served as mayor of Little Sioux, Iowa. Jim loved to fish and he loved his grandchildren. Jim was very caring to his family. When Rosalie was in the nursing home he frequently took her for rides. He also converted a bread truck into a camper. Additionally he loved Edsel cars. Jim enjoyed traveling, playing cards, watching western shows, and letting his grand-children drive when they were too young to do so.

Jim died on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 88 years, three months, and three days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rosalie. He is survived by his daughter Janelle (Neil) Brown of Woodbine, Iowa; three grandchildren, Karla (Travis) Melby of Moorhead, Iowa, Kurt (Katherine Pedersen) Brown, Kevin (Jonie) Brown all of Woodbine; five great grandchildren; brother, Eddie (Myrtle) Johnson of Pisgah, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
