James Wegner

James Lawrence Wegner was born on April 2, 1959 to parents Walter and Cecelia (Funk) Wegner in Denison, Iowa. Jim attended Woodbine schools and graduated from Woodbine high School in 1977. Jim played basketball and participated in track (doing the high jump and shot put) while in high school. Jim worked for a private contractor doing track repair in railroad yards for many years. He had to retire a couple of years ago because of his declining health.
Jim liked to watch basketball, Storage Wars, American Pickers on television. Jim was very good at making up lyrics to songs. He enjoyed using his metal detector to see what treasures he could find. Jim adored his nephews and nieces.
Jim died on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home at the age of 57 years and 21 days.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Walter on September 1, 1999. He is survived by his mother Cecelia Wegner of Woodbine, Iowa; sister, Gerianne and her husband Lynn Miller of Woodbine, Iowa; four brothers, John Wegner and his wife Nancy of Woodbine, Iowa, Bill Wegner and his wife Julie of Omaha, Nebraska, Joe Wegner of Deloit, Iowa and Tom Wegner and his wife Sherry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; eight nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
