James Wendt

James Sidney Wendt was born September 12, 1924, to John Franklin and Elsie (Thompsen) Wendt in Panama, Iowa. He attended a country school near Panama, Iowa until the 8th grade. Jim married Donna Irene White on February 15, 1950, in Portsmouth, Iowa. Jim farmed for several years and then he went to work at Vickers in Omaha, Nebraska. He retired from Vickers after 23 years of service. Jim enjoyed wood working and gardening.
Jim died on Friday, December 2, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 81 years, two months, and 20 days.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronnie Ray as an infant and Leslie Wendt; grandson, Duane Boeck; sister, Ruth Gau; and brother, Charles Wendt. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Missouri Valley, Iowa; three children, Terry Wendt and his wife Debra and Dean Wendt all of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Vicki Lee and her husband Gerald Boeck of Hutchinson, Kansas; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, John (Buzz) Wendt and his wife Elaine of Portsmouth, Iowa; sister-in-law Lucille Wendt of Logan, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
