Janet Lee Myler was born on March 15, 1952, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Norman “Duke” and Betsy (Hough) Seaton. She grew up in Crescent, Iowa, attending grade school there. Janet then attended Thomas Jefferson in Council Bluffs and finished her last two years of high school in Missouri Valley, Iowa. On May 29, 1970, Janet was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Myler. They were blessed with two children, Jimmy and Jodi. Janet worked for 40 years for the telephone company Northwestern Bell which later became Quest and Century Link. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Janet was a woman who found joy in many pursuits that enriched her days and brought happiness to those around her. She enjoyed tennis and golf. One of Janet's most treasured pastimes was shopping. Her commitment to family traditions was unwavering, embracing annual activities such as apple picking and holiday celebrations including bingo nights, constructing gingerbread houses, and pumpkin carving. Moments that created lasting memories. Janet’s passion for cooking was well known among her family. She prepared generous meals, often cooking more than enough, ensuring everyone not only enjoyed her food during gatherings but also could take some home to savor later. Her grandkids held a special place in her heart. Janet cheered them on at countless events, her encouragement and affection marking some of their happiest memories. She will be remembered not only for the beautiful life she lived but for the beautiful way she made others feel.
Janet died on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 74 years and 26 days.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sally Seaton. She is survived by her husband, Jim Myler of Missouri Valley; children, Jimmy Myler and his wife Bridget of Missouri Valley and Jodi and her husband Jeff Fetter of Logan, Iowa; grandchildren, Jacob Fetter, Ella Myler, Daxton Myler, Hadley Fetter, and Dilynn Myler; sisters, Kathy and her husband John Howell of Colorado, Sue Seaton and her husband John Papproth of Iowa and Carol and her husband Scott Hunter of Georgia; stepmother, Myrna Davidsaver of Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
