Janice Allen

Janice Kay (Rose) Allen was born July 11, 1944, to LeRoy and Catherine (Kline) Rose in Denison, Iowa. She was raised near Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School. Janice married William "Fonley" Allen on December 23, 1972, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The couple lived in various places before returning to the Dunlap area. Janice worked at Dorothy's Diner in Dunlap, the Dunlap Livestock Auction, and for the federal government in Omaha in Small Business Administration. She retired in 2011.

Janice loved spending time with her family and attending all of their various activities. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, consignment store shopping, and attending auctions. She also enjoyed eating out at different restaurants, cooking, being with people and making a friend out of a stranger. Janice enjoyed living a simple and humble life and she enjoyed giving to charity and volunteering at the Watson Steam Train in Missouri Valley.

Janice died on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Dunlap Specialty Care at the age of 73 years, six months, and 20 days.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Rose, and brother-in-law, Bob Schlensig. She is survived by her husband, Fonley Allen of Dunlap, Iowa; three children, Nanette (Kent) Bornhoft of Schleswig, Iowa, Jason (Alisha) Allen of Pineville, Louisiana, Fonda (Benjamin Kimball) Allen of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; 5+ great grandchildren; sister, Betty Schlensig of Wickenburg, Arizona; sister-in-law, Norma Rose of Deloit, Iowa; dog, Yoshi; and many other relatives and friends.
