James Marty Bennett was born on July 6, 1965, in Bloomington, Illinois and raised by his mom, Mary “Renee” (Casali) and Bob Androy. He lived in various places through the years but really enjoyed his time spent in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jim graduated from East Monona high school in 1985. He joined the Army National Guard after graduation then worked different jobs including Martin Luther Homes, multiple café’s, Rex’s Meat Market and Foodland, until he found love in being a stay-at-home dad. On February 13,1993, Jim married the love of his life, Betty Fortner. They made their home in Woodbine.
Jim was known for his remarkable creativity and gentle spirit. He enjoyed putting together Lego creations and was a fan of the Miami Dolphins. Jim found joy in crafting, embracing activities such as crocheting, knitting and quilting. His handmade creations were a testament to his love and care for those in his life. He was even able to make a wedding dress for his sister. Jim cherished time spent with his family, sharing laughter and love, and found companionship in the many beloved cats that graced his home.
Jim died on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, six months and 15 days.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Andy Androy and Jason Androy; and sister-in-law, Patty Androy. He is survived by his wife, Betty Bennett of Woodbine; children, Jesse (Mike) Green of Boonville, Missouri, Stacy (Tina) Edevane of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Michael (Lish) Bennett of Wahoo, Nebraska and Sarah Bennett of Woodbine; siblings, Tom Androy, Melissa (Tony) Ritterbush and Jodi (Kevin) Bruck all of Dunlap; 13 grandkids, 4 great-grandkids, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
