James Russell Davie was born November 21, 1932, to Paul and Claribel (Lambert) Davie in Dunlap, Iowa. Jim attended school in Dunlap and graduated in 1950. He worked at Briardale Grocery Store and the bowling alley. Jim went to California and was a singer for a short time before returning to Dunlap. Jim married JoAnn Weber on February 14, 1953, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap. He was a postal service employee for 38 ½ years serving as a clerk and a rural mail carrier. He retired from this job in 1989. Starting in 1969 until just recently Jim took care of the golf course and also mowed for the city for a number of years and at area cemeteries. Jim enjoyed painting cars and tractors, wood working, golfing, bowling and fishing.

Jim died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, seven months, and six days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoAnn Davie on March 25, 2009; one infant grandchild; two grandsons, Jeff and Joey Fitzgerald; sister, Lois Anderson; brother, Frank Davie and infant brothers, Paul and John Davie. He is survived by two sons, Thomas (Denise) Davie of Dunlap, IA, Kevin (Jill) Davie of Omaha, NE; five daughters, Rebecca (Tim) Heuwinkel of LaVista, NE, Karol (Clancy) Murphy of Dunlap, IA, Karen (Ken) Hughes and Patty (Barry) Vaske all of Omaha, NE, Chris (Brad) O'Day of Dunlap, IA; 19 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Don (Jane) Davie of Dunlap, IA; sister, Myra (Gene) Petersen of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
