James William Woodard was born July 15, 1932, to Joe and Alice (Teager) Woodard in Logan, Iowa. He was raised in Logan and attended public school. Jim helped out at the family farm and at the age of 19 he began driving a truck for the quarry in Logan and then for Orville Hicks. He and his dad helped build the Fort Randall Dam in South Dakota. Jim then returned to trucking and drove for Irving F. Jensen Construction, Allied in Omaha, Nebraska, Beatrice Freight Line in Lincoln, Nebraska and then for Krajicek's in Denison, Iowa. Jim married Cleo Parker on October 4, 1959, in Mondamin, Iowa. Jim also proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

Jim was a member of the VFW and the Dunlap American Legion Post #224. He was a civic minded person and ran for the Harrison County Sheriff as well as in a mayoral election in Dunlap.

Jim died Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Veterans' Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 11 days.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Anna as an infant, Rosie Koch, Sharon Mahoney, Georgetta Blanchard; and brother, Floyd Woodard. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Woodard of Dunlap, Iowa; two sons, James (Nancy) Woodard of Charter Oak, Iowa, Francis Woodard of Minnesota; daughter, Norma (Larry) Rodasky of Dunlap, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jeff Rodasky of Woodbine, Iowa, Lilly (Chanc) Jacobsen of Des Moines, Iowa, Jennifer Rodasky of Omaha, Nebraska, James Woodard of Ames, Iowa, Cody Rodasky of Dunlap, Iowa, Dominic Woodard of Elk Horn, Nebraska; two great grandsons; seven siblings, Lyle (Vicki) Woodard of Council Bluffs, Iowa, George (Chichi) Woodard of Santa Clara, California, Lorraine Readman of Logan, Iowa, Fred (Diane) Woodard of Fontana, California, Harold (Edna) Woodard of Glenwood, Iowa, Paul (Carol) Woodard of Phoenix, Arizona, Shirley (Dale) Howard of Pacific Junction, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
