Jimmie Eugene Straight was born July 1, 1939, in Logan, Iowa to Ted and Bernadine (Plath) Straight. He grew up in the Magnolia area and attended Magnolia High School. On July 16, 1960, he married Gwen Buker in Stockfield, Nebraska. Jimmie drove a rock truck before enlisting in the United States Army in 1962. He was honorably discharged in 1964. The couple lived in Nebraska while Jimmie worked with road construction in Ainsworth and Meriman, Nebraska before returning to Logan in 1965. Jimmie then drove a truck for Western Engineering and Roy Redding. He also farmed with his brother, Jerry, and he purchased a farm in 1976. Jimmie sold the farm in 2004. Jimmie drove a truck for Mid-Continent and for Charles Kuhlman from 1986 - 2003.
Jimmie loved anything outdoors especially fishing, hunting, camping, and watching his grandson race.
Jimmie died on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa attaining the age of 65 years, 11 months, and 17 days.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Palmesano; and brother, Jack Straight. He is survived by his two children, Doug Straight of Woodbine, Iowa, Della Straight of Omaha, Nebraska; wife, Gwen of Woodbine, Iowa; five grandchildren; four siblings, JoAnn Myers of Logan, Iowa, Jerry Straight and his wife Sandra of Woodbine, Iowa, Janice and her husband Denis Stueve of Modale, Iowa, John Straight and his wife Debra of Logan, Iowa; sister-in-law Sondra Straight, of Logan, Iowa; brother-in-law, Joe Palmesano of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
