John Dean Kahre was born December 27, 1941, to John and Annabelle (Boyd) Kahre in Council Bluffs, Iowa. John was raised in Logan, Iowa and graduated from Logan High School in 1959. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from January 15, 1960 to January 14, 1964. After his honorable discharge, John returned to Logan and went to work for Peter Kiewit. Later on he went to work for Fisher Fixtures. Thirty plus years ago, John moved to Chillicothe, Missouri and worked for Dell Oil, managing a truck stop.
John liked to fish and camp when he was younger. In later years he liked to shop for antiques, play bingo and be with family.
John died on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, in Chillicothe, Missouri at the age of 75 years, eight months, and 23 days.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Robert Hammer; and brother-in-law, Lloyd (Fuzzy) Douglas. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Douglas of Logan, Iowa; two nephews, Phil Smith and his wife Laura of Omaha, Nebraska and Curtis Smith and his wife Betty of Missouri Valley, Iowa; one niece, Tonya Frahm of Omaha, Nebraska; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
