John Francis Miller was born on November 2, 1939, to Isidore and Hazel (Brown) Miller in Earling, Iowa. He was raised near Earling and attended country school. He graduated from Dunlap High School in 1958. On February 27, 1960, John married Mary Jane Gray in Denison. The couple lived in Omaha until the fall of 1960, when they moved to their farm west of Dunlap. While farming, John worked at IBP, OMNI Construction, Land O’ Lakes/QLF, CPS/AG Nutrient as well as drove the school bus for many years. John enjoyed the friendships and laughter he shared with everyone on his journey.
John was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree member in the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid card player. He enjoyed playing cards in the afternoons with his card buddies and the evenings with his family. John enjoyed farming, but especially loved his cattle, garden, flowers, and coaching Pee-Wee baseball and girls’ softball. However, above all, John loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart. He attended all of their activities and was their biggest fan!
John died on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 10 days.
