Karen Christensen

Karen Kay (Nuzum) Christensen was born March 26, 1941, to Ben and May (Losh) Nuzum near Pisgah, Iowa. She was raised near Pisgah and graduated from Pisgah High School. Karen worked at Woodmen of the World in Omaha and FSA in Logan. Karen married Eugene Christensen on May 2, 1959, at the RLDS Church in Pisgah. Karen owned the Hardware Store in Pisgah and took in dry cleaning. After the boys were raised, she worked at Apotheca in Woodbine, Iowa.

Karen was a member of the Community of Christ in Pisgah. She was active with the ladies group that served the funeral lunches as well as the dinners at church. She enjoyed playing cards for fun and for money. She always looked forward to the kids and grandkids visiting for the weekend. She also enjoyed watching sports her boys and grandkids played in. She enjoyed working on her lawn and in her garden. Karen could always find something to do rather than sit and watch tv.

Karen died on Monday, August 1, 2016, at her home in Pisgah at the age of 75 years, four months, and six days.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; son, Perry Christensen on July 4, 2010; and two brothers, LaVerne and Loyal Nuzum. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Christensen of Pisgah, Iowa; two sons, Pat Christensen and his wife Kim of Pisgah, Iowa, David Christensen and his wife Jana of Moorhead, Iowa; three grandchildren; two great grandsons; six step-great granddaughters; one brother, Dwight Nuzum of Mondamin, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
