Kathleen Ellison

Kathleen Fay Ellison was born September 9, 1928, in Harrison County, Iowa to Irving and Opal (McHenry) Bamford. She graduated from Woodbine High School and then worked for Boyer Valley Telephone Company in Woodbine for 13 years. On September 9, 1950, Kathleen married Bernie Ellison at the Christian Church parsonage in Logan, Iowa. The couple lived in Woodbine since they were married.

Kathleen worked for many businesses in the area, including Orvey's (a cleaning establishment), the Woodbine Produce, and Westmont Care Center in Logan. She provided home health care for several years and helped many people in Woodbine stay in their homes. Kathleen was a member of Rebekah Lodge in Woodbine. Her hobbies included dancing with her husband, roller skating, and most importantly caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the cabin on Black Hawk Lake.

Kathleen died on October 5, 2014, at her home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 86 years and 26 days.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernie Ellison; infant daughter Cindy Sue; six sisters, Genevieve Clausen, Beverly Sailors, Bertha Bamford, Virginia Orr, Jean Burkhart and Irvalee Ulmer; and two brothers, Irving and William Bamford. She is survived by three children, Wayne Ellison and his wife Patty of McClelland, Iowa, Penny and her husband Roger Peterson of Woodbine, Iowa, Ben Ellison and his wife Brenda of Topeka, Kansas; nine grandchildren; 13 great grand-children; and many other relatives and friends.
