Lawrence Clark Guyett was born June 15, 1930, to Lloyd and Lois (Johns) Guyett near Woodbine, Iowa. He was raised near Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1948. After his graduation Larry started farming. In 1955 Larry married Barbara Rase in Bellevue, Nebraska. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 – 1957. After his honorable discharge Larry returned to Woodbine and continued farming.
Larry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine. He enjoyed card club, gardening, tending his sweet corn, and raising cattle. He also enjoyed football and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Larry had a soft spot for kitties.
Larry died on Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 86 years, one month and 26 days.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Fern Travis; seven brothers, Max, Bud, Phillip, Dick, Francis, Jack and Kenneth; two sisters, Helen Skop and Dorothy Lohrmann; and step-brother, Keith Travis. He is survived by his wife, Barb Guyett of Woodbine, Iowa; four children, Deb (Tom) Lizer of Reinbeck, Iowa, Becky (Rick) Eickholt of Neligh, Nebraska, Lois (Jim) Andersen of Woodbine, Iowa, Mike (Sherry) Guyett of Logan, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Fran Nielsen of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Shirley Guyett of Harlan, Iowa, Diane Guyett of Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Bob Lohrmann of Manilla, Iowa; step-brother, Bill Travis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
