Leo Alfred Sullivan was born June 26, 1952, in Denison, Iowa to Leo Paul and Norma (Mitchell) Sullivan. Leo attended St. Joseph Catholic School for his elementary training. He attended the Dunlap High School for two years and then finished his high school career at Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Leo A. worked at IBP and attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha in the evening. On October 18, 1974, Leo A. was in an automobile accident, and this changed the course of his life forever. He lived in the New Hope Village for a short time and then he moved back home. He worked with his dad, the Bubble gum man, with the Pioneer seed sales.
Leo A. was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He loved watching his family show cattle. He also enjoyed discussing politics and religion. Another of his favorite pastimes was attending the local sporting activities. Leo A. enjoyed the family vacations to Okoboji and writing letters to friends and family. He was always ready for a card game and a nice steak dinner.
Leo A. died on October 21, 2004, in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 52 years, three months, and 25 days.
Leo A. was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents Alfred Mitchell, Leo Patrick and Elizabeth Sullivan. He is survived by his mother Norma Sullivan of Dunlap, Iowa six brothers Bart Sullivan, Joe Sullivan and his wife Beth, John Sullivan and his wife Dede all of Dunlap, Iowa, Dave Sullivan of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Roger Sullivan of Omaha, Nebraska, and Dan Sullivan of Hillsboro, Texas, one sister Jean and her husband Wayne Beam of Ankeny, Iowa; grandmother Evelyn Mitchell of Dunlap, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
