Leta Grace (Smith) Foscalina was born July 13, 1919, on the farm in Crawford County, Iowa, to Ruth Naomi (Hazen) and Silas Harrison Smith.  She attended the lower grades of rural school near Dunlap, Iowa, and then went to the Dunlap Public School through the tenth grade. Following the call to go west, she went to Tacoma,   Washington where she finished her high school by attending night school in Tacoma.  She married Louis Wesley Foscalina on December 20, 1941, in Reno, Nevada, and they were blessed with one son Louis Wesley Jr.
   
   Leta had an extended career as a bookkeeper, and working in Real Estate.  She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store for many years while she worked for a business that made artificial limbs.
   
   She was a life long and faithful member of Saint David's of Wales church, and a member of their "Fifty Plus Club" in Richmond, California where she resided.
   
   Leta died on March 13, 2006, in Richmond, California attaining the age of 86 years and eight months.
   
   Leta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis; son, Wesley in June of 1993; four brothers, Virgil, Perry, Sherman, and Herman; and two sisters, Margaret Wolf and Leona Berger.  She is survived by her sister, Lena Jacobs of Dunlap, Iowa; brother Martin Smith and his wife Bonnie of Woodbine, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Virginia Smith and Marie Block both of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
