Lillian Margaret (Hanson) Dai was born April 12, 1916, to Hans and Mary Margaret (Emge) Hanson in Dunlap, Iowa. She grew up in the Dunlap area and attended country school and Dunlap High School. On March 7, 1933, she married Freddie Dai. The couple lived in Dunlap, California, and Omaha, Nebraska. Freddie died April 9, 1987.
Lillian was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Omaha. She was known as the pink grandma and foxy grandma. She was also famous for her delicious cookies. Lillian loved to dance and collect clowns.
Lillian died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 22 days.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bernard Hanson; sister, Marie Ulmer; son-in-law, Ken Smiley; grandson, Edward Behrendt; and four sisters-in-law, Erma Hanson, Myrna Hanson, Marjorie Hanson and Shirley Hanson. She is survived by her three children, Don Dai and his wife Sandi of Underwood, Iowa, Virginia "Ginny" and her husband Don "Grizz" Behrendt of Dunlap, Iowa, Barbara "Bobbie" Smiley of Logan, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; five brothers, Howard Hanson and his wife Frances of Omaha, Nebraska, Dick Hanson and his wife Eileen of Dunlap, Iowa, Paul Hanson and his wife Mary of Dunlap, Iowa, Harold Hanson and his wife Peggy of Kansas City, Missouri, Danny Hanson of Honey Creek, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.
