Lois Case

Lois Jean (Henderson) Case was born March 31, 1937, to Martin and Irvina (Patrick) "Pat" Henderson in Spencer Township Rall County, Missouri. In her early years she lived in Louisiana, Missouri and then attended high school in St. Louis, Missouri. Lois married Russell Nelsen I in June of 1955. The couple was blessed with six children, Denise, Russ, Terry, Darrell, Renee and Sherry. The family lived in Harlan, and Carroll, Iowa before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. Russell died in 1968. Lois married Rodger Case on June 27, 1969, at the First Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Christy. The couple lived in Missouri Valley until 1974 and then moved to Mondamin. In 1987 they moved to Omaha and in 1998 they moved to Nevada, Missouri. Rodger had a stroke in 2001 and they moved to Logan. Rodger died on October 18, 2010.

Lois enjoyed helping with the school lunch program, crocheting and quilting baby blankets for the neonatal department at the research medical center in Kansas City. She also made dresses for children in Honduras. Lois loved living at the Rose Court Independent Living Apartments. She enjoyed the Red Hatters, her tea group, going to movies and working on puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of her dog, Zelda. When Lois moved to the nursing home, she enjoyed her life there too.

Lois died on Tuesday, January 7, 2013, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 76 years, nine months, and seven days.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Russell Nelsen I and Rodger Case; son, Russell Nelsen II, infant daughter, Terry Nelsen; and granddaughter, Brandon Renee Herman. She is survived by five children, Denise Nelsen of Reno, Nevada, Darrell Nelsen of Scottsdale, Arizona, Renee Nelsen of Mission Viejo, California, Sherry (Darin) McLaughlin of Papillion, Nebraska, Christy (Cory) Jackson of Missouri Valley, Iowa; five grandchildren; Zachary Herman, Rusty Nelsen, Anthony and Lucy McLaughlin, and Samantha Jackson; two sisters, Phyllis Simon and Wanda Bagley both of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
