Louise Burkholder

Louise Burkholder was born in Pacific Junction, Iowa on January 28, 1910 to parents Ernest and Mabel (Moore) Purcell. Louise's family moved to Woodbine when she was three years old. She graduated from Woodbine High School in 1928 and then took the one year Normal Training. She taught for two years at the Dupree Country School and then for three years at Loveland, Iowa. On June 5, 1934, Louise married Glenn "Shorty" Burkholder at the Presbyterian Church in Woodbine. The couple farmed near Woodbine until 1982, when they bought a home and moved into Woodbine. Shorty died on December 16, 1988. After suffering a stroke in December of 1995, Louise moved to Omaha to be closer to her daughters.

Louise was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Woodbine. She had been a 4-H leader and had been a member of the HHH Neighborhood Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and watching sports. She was a beautiful seamstress.

Louise died Saturday, September 27th, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 93 years seven months and 30 days.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn "Shorty", daughter Beverly Fett, brother, Elton Purcell and a great granddaughter, Kendal Marie Dasenbrock. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara and her husband Dick Dasenbrock, Omaha, NE and Belinda and her husband Bob Frederick, Papillion, NE; son-in-law Terry and his wife Cathy Fett, Loveland, CO; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service at Fouts Funeral Home at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 1st, with Rev. John Hansen of the Presbyterian Church of the Master officiating.
