Lyle Harvey Carrigan

Lyle Harvey Carrigan was born on March 25, 1907 near Woodbine, Iowa to parents Harry C. & Alice M. (Holben) Carrigan. He attended Allen Creek Country School. He then began working for area farmers. On December 14, 1927, Lyle married Evelyn Tillie Wallis in Onawa, Iowa. The couple farmed near Woodbine for three years, then near Mondamin and in 1934 began farming in the Pisgah area. Lyle raised cattle, hogs and horses. He used to break horses and loved feeding cattle and going to cattle sales. Evelyn died on July 22, 1992. Lyle became a resident of Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine in March of 2001. Lyle was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Lyle died on September 8, 2003 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 96 years, five months and 14 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn, two brothers Lawrence and Harold Carrigan, sister Edna Withem and grandson Gene Howard. He is survived by six children Carolyn Howard of Walcott, IA, Twylia & husband Bob Hinkel of Little Sioux, IA, Jeanne Pratt of Moorhead, IA, Barbara & husband Kenneth Wimer of Woodbine, IA, Ronda & husband Edwin Steinhoff of Syracuse, NE and Randy Carrigan & wife Kerri of Soldier, IA; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great great granddaughters; sister Marjorie Sherling of Estherville, IA; sister-in-law Gladys Carrigan of Underwood, IA and many other relatives and friends.
