Mabel Carse

Mabel Caroline Carse was born on October 4, 1922 to parents Robert and Myrtle (Danielson) Bloomquist in Hobart, Indiana, who instilled in her the values of hard work and perseverance. Her father was a Swedish speaking Methodist minister and Mabel had fond memories of his ministry to the Swedish church in Texas that they attended. Mabel graduated high school in Schumberg, Texas and attended San Marius Teachers College where she met the love of her life, Francis “Bud” Carse. The couple married October 31, 1943.
During WWII from December 1943 to December 1945,   Mabel taught elementary school in Texas while Francis served his country overseas. After his discharge, they settled in Kennedy, Texas where their daughter Carla was born in 1948. Son Cody joined the family three years later when they moved to Robstown, Texas. It wasn't long   before the family made another move, this time to Omaha, Nebraska where Francis worked as an electrician. In 1960, they moved to Texas and purchased and operated a motel before returning to Omaha in 1961, and then in 1964 making their final move to their acreage near Magnolia.
Mabel had a passion for music and joined the Magnolia Methodist Church in 1964 where she played piano for church services and funerals. She enjoyed playing with Blythe Ellsworth  and Darlene Lamberson for many services throughout the years.
Mabel died on May 21, 2023 at her daughters home in Omaha, at the age of 100 years, seven months and 18 days.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; infant son, Brian Carse and sister, Mildred Holm. She is survived by her daughter, Carla Francine Carse and son, Cody Francis Carse and his wife Kathy all of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Randy Carse and Sarah Carse; one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Carse; and sisters, Winifred Mason of Houston, Texas and Bobbie Dean DuBose of DeVine, Texas and other relatives and friends.
Mabel will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished friend, and passionate pianist who impacted those around her with kindness and warmth. Her legacy will continue through all those whose lives she touched.
