Marcella Hansen

Marcella (Fouts) Hansen, 91, formerly of Dunlap, Woodbine, and Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away at home on September 12, 2012, in Carson City, Nevada, where she resided with her son, Lanny, for the last 10 years.

Marcella (Marci) was born on May 11, 1921, in Shelby County, Iowa. The youngest of nine siblings, she was raised on a farm, played like a tomboy, loved to dance, went to high school, and married Jesse Michael Hansen at the age of 17. Later they started their family in Woodbine, Iowa, moved to Council Bluffs, and built the home where Marcella raised her children and lived until 2002. Marci was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her ready smile, friendly nature, twinkle in her eye, zest for living, and her warm hugs. She held various jobs throughout her life, eventually retiring as an operations manager for the Credit Bureau of Greater Omaha. Marci was also an active volunteer in her church (Broadway Christian), the Southwest 8 Senior Services Center, and her community. She modeled positive thinking, lifelong learning, heartfelt loving, and worthwhile living.

Marcella will be missed by her children Lanny (Lana Miller) Hansen and DeAnne (Larry Driever) Taylor; granddaughters, Tricia (Andre) Oliveira, Shanna (Jeremy) Cooley, and Sarah Hansen; great grandsons Taylor, Noah, Hunter, and Jesse Cooley and Nicholas and Luke Oliveira; brother, Glen (Doris) Fouts; and many other relatives and friends. Her husband, Jesse, died in 1966. Marcella was also preceded in death by her parents, Dell and Lizzie (Mosher) Fouts; sisters, Florence Greenwood, Julia Lahr, and Ethel Steinhausen, and brothers, Holly, Harvey, Fay, and Floyd Fouts.
