Marilyn Lee (Michael) Collins was born on April 3, 1933, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Louis and Irene (Niles) Michael adopted her at the age of three months. She was raised in the Magnolia area and attended school at Windy Ridge Country School. She graduated from Magnolia High School in 1951. On August 16, 1952, Marilyn married Harlan Collins. The couple made their home in Mondamin, Iowa. Marilyn worked at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley for two years before attending Iowa Western Community College in 1969 and 1970 where she earned her Practical Nursing Degree. She then worked at the Community Memorial Hospital for a total of 28 years, retiring in 1995. Harlan died March 14, 2012.

Marilyn was a member of the Logan Christian Church. She enjoyed their four children and all their school activities. She also enjoyed bowling, knitting, camping and fishing. Marilyn enjoyed working with Harlan on their large garden. The grandchildren were all special to Marilyn and she enjoyed having them close.

Marilyn died on Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 84 years, two months, and 16 days.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harlan Collins; grandson, Jacob Leonard; and in-laws, Kenneth Collins and Rosalie and Tom Jorgensen. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Collins and his wife Cindy of Logan, Iowa, Randy Collins and his wife Sharon of Adel, Iowa; two daughters, Linda Muell of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Vicky Earlywine of Logan, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Scott, Jason, Brent, Jessica, Christin, Kylee and Annie; 17 1/2 great grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter, Jaxen (Jason), Jude, Lennon, Harrison (Jessica), Maxton, Zoey, Rex (Brent), Eli, Merritt (Kylee), Wyatt, Emma (Scott), Marley, Clair, Meadow, Micajah and a baby boy due soon (Christin); sister-in-law, Myrna Collins of Logan, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
