   Mark Allen Glackin was born October 16, 1971, to Joseph and Alice (Long) Glackin in Cherokee, Iowa.  Mark graduated from Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School in 1990. On June 22, 1991, Mark married Lynne Lauters at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa.  The couple moved to Cedars Falls, Iowa and attended the University of Northern Iowa.  Mark graduated with a Bachelors degree in secondary education with an English endorsement.  Mark continued taking classes through Buena Vista University and received his Master's Degree.  Mark was currently working through UNI to obtain his Specialist's Degree to become a superintendent.    Mark taught at Long Prairie, Minnesota, Rockwell City-Lytton, and  Denison schools.  He was a principal at Sac City and Woodbine.  This summer he accepted the superintendent's position from Armstrong Ringstad Schools.
   
   Mark was a member of Sacred Heath Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Woodbine Optimist, he was the president elect for SWSAI, and he was on other various educational committees.  Mark was in the National Guard from 1988 to 1997.  Mark loved his family and attending all of their activities.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
   
   Mark died July 14, 2005, in Sac County, Iowa in a motorcycle accident attaining the age of 33 years, eight months, and 28 days.
   
   Mark was preceded in death by his father and two brothers-in-law, Denny Lauters and Bill Schipull.  He is survived by his wife, Lynne Glackin of Woodbine, IA; three children Jodi, Patrick, and Alexandria Glackin of Woodbine, IA; mother, Alice Glackin of Marcus, IA; five siblings, Lori and her husband Jim Longmore of Mankato, MN, Judy and her husband Ken Cuddy of Lincoln, NE, Doug Glackin and his wife Carol of Greenfield, IA, Lt. Col. James Glackin and his wife Penny of Watervliet, NY, Melissa and her husband Mark Groskreutz of Wells, MN; parents-in-law, Doug Lauters and his wife Heidi of Elgin, IA; brothers-in-law, Dean Lauters and his wife Lisa of Marion, IA, Tony Lauters and his wife Terri of Hawarden, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

   Woodbine feels pain once again
   
   Woodbine, Iowa, was struck with tragedy when the high school's former principal was killed while returning to Woodbine on his motorcycle. Mark Glackin, 33, died Thursday night in a collision with a tractor near Odebolt, Iowa. Glackin, who had been high school principal in Woodbine for three years, started a new job July 1 as superintendent of the Armstrong-Ringsted Schools in north-central Iowa.
