Mark Stevens

Mark David Stevens was born to David and Patricia (Mahan) Stevens on November 11, 1986, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mark grew up in Woodbine, Iowa, with his older sister, Vicki, where he attended grade school through high school. After graduating from Woodbine High School in 2002, Mark attended Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, for three semesters and one semester at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska. He moved to Mesa, Arizona, in 2015 and eventually settled in Carefree, Arizona, in 2017. Mark spent his time working at the Help Desk at The Home Depot until the time of his death.

Mark loved spending time outdoors and in nature. Some of his favorite times were spent with his Uncle Dave Mahan in both Iowa and Arizona, and with Grandfather Loyd (Tip) Stevens at the family cabin on the Missouri River at Ryan’s Landing. He also enjoyed hunting with classmates, hiking with family in and visiting Arizona, and golfing. Mark was always up for an adventure, especially if that adventure took place in the Arizona desert.

When not in nature, Mark was an avid football supporter – his favorite teams being the Los Angeles Rams and Iowa Hawkeyes. Aside from collecting memorabilia from the Rams and Hawks, Mark attended NFL games whenever he could to cheer on his team.

Mark found his dream home on the outskirts of Carefree, Arizona, five years ago. On this one-and-a-half-acre spread, Mark had the dreams and creative freedom to do what he wanted with the property. Countless hours were spent with Uncle Dave Mahan building horse corrals to support his vision of one day being able to board horses, as well as renovating the interior of his home to be just the way he wanted it. Mark’s home was big enough to allow his dogs (Bella, Waylon, and Aleah) to adventure and run free, just as he loved to do. His dogs were a light in his life, something that brought him close to friend, Alyssa.

Mark was also very vocal about his love for his sister’s children, his nieces and nephews. It would be strange for someone to meet Mark and not know about the kids that he was so proud of – Kaylun, Trevin, Maci, and Micah. He made it a goal to not only be the best uncle, but to be someone that they could always depend on. Some of the kids’ best memories have been with Uncle Mark at his house in Arizona. Being an uncle was something that Mark was very proud of.

Mark passed away peacefully at his home on December 5, 2025. Mark is preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Nadine Mahan and Loyd (Tip) and Katherine Stevens. Left to celebrate Mark’s memory are his parents, David and Patricia Stevens of Woodbine; host sister, Crystal Brannan of Woodbine; his sister, Vicki, and brother-in-law Ryan Victor of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and their children, Kaylun, Trevin, Maci and Micah; his close Uncle Dave and Aunt Tracy Mahan of Mesa, Arizona; many uncles and aunts; cousins; friend, Alyssa; and several close friends at The Home Depot in Carefree.

Mark’s final wishes were to be cremated. His ashes will be spread at places that were special to him by his family and friend, Alyssa, in Arizona.

The family plans to hold a graveside service in Woodbine at a later date.
