      Marvin Gale Barry was born on November 27, 1934 in Woodbine, Iowa to parents Theodore and Ruby (Williamson) Barry. Gale grew up in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1953. Gale helped his dad with farming and then held various jobs in the area, including at the Woodbine Lumber Yard and as a local truck driver. Gale married Jean McHenry and to this union four children were born, Daniel, David, Rylene and Rhonda. The couple lived in the Woodbine area. The couple owned and operated the Woodbine Café. Later on, Gale married Norma Dilley Hinkel. They lived in Texas and Louisiana. Gale moved back to Woodbine in 2000.

      Gale enjoyed watching westerns, going to Branson, Missouri and traveling with Norma. Gale would never pass up a good buffet restaurant.

      Gale died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Azria Health Rose Vista Nursing Home at the age of 89 years, six months and one day.                                                                                                                                           
      Gale was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Jean Barry and Norma Barry; infant brother, Darrell Barry and brother Max Barry and his wife Lois. He is survived by his children, Dan Barry and his wife Sandy, David Barry and Rylene and her husband Steve Nelson all of Woodbine and Rhonda and her husband Troy Deaton of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, JoAnn and Bob Anderson of Gehring, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Woodbine Fire and Rescue, Myrtue Hospice or a charity of your choice.
