Mary Argotsinger

Woodbine, Iowa

Mary Elizabeth (Young) Argotsinger was born February 13, 1925, to LeRoy and Undine (Holeton) Young near Woodbine, Iowa. She was raised near Woodbine and attended country school and then Woodbine High School. She continued her education with the normal teachers' training and began her teaching career in country schools. Mary met her future husband at church, and on August 27, 1944, Mary married Darrell Argotsinger at the Woodbine Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The couple has lived their entire lives in Woodbine. Mary completed her educational degree at Dana College and went on to teach for 45 years at the Woodbine School.

Mary was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and most recently a member of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in Missouri Valley. She enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy. She also enjoyed playing cards and games with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary loved her students, but most of all she loved her family.

Mary died on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 91 years, one month and 28 days.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lloyd, Ronald (Bill), Ralph, and Charles Young; and three sisters, Doris Cole, Millie Faircloth and Shirley Michael. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Argotsinger of Woodbine, Iowa; four children, Lynn (Pam) Argotsinger of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Gary (Vicki) Argotsinger of Portsmouth, Iowa, Randy (Sally) Argotsinger of Urbandale, Iowa, LuAnn (Eric) Pendleton of Tampa, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
