Mary Elizabeth (Epperson) Niedermyer was born September 26, 1922, to Roy and Nellie (Cody) Epperson in Ragland Township, Harrison County, Iowa. She was raised in the Pisgah area and graduated from Modale High School in 1940. She then taught school in the Harrison County Country Schools for a few years. Mary married Milton Niedermyer on February 28, 1946 at the Pisgah Catholic Rectory. The couple farmed in the Pisgah area. Their farm has the distinction of being registered as a 100 year farm in Iowa.

Mary was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Logan, Iowa. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and playing cards. In addition, Mary enjoyed cooking and baking ~ she was known for her wonderful apple crisp, as well as gardening and canning. She was also an avid baseball fan. Most of all, Mary enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother.

Mary died on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood, Iowa at the age of 90 years, eight months, and seven days.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Niedermyer; five brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Catherine Epperson, Gerald and Eleanor Epperson, Bernard and Louise Epperson, Jerome and Rena Epperson, Philip Epperson; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Russ Woods, Dale Pearsall, Kathryn Epperson, Joan and Francis Fulton. She is survived by her husband, Milt Niedermyer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four children, Marilyn (Dan) Newland of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Frank Niedermyer & Stephanie of Omaha, Nebraska, Tom (Patty) Niedermyer of Magnolia, Iowa, Hazel (Les) Granum of Omaha, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Eileen (Dick) Smith of York Nebraska; brother, Tom (Ramona) Epperson of Germantown, Tennessee; and many other relatives and friends.
