Mary Catherine (Kenealy) O'Rourke was born September 30, 1927, to Jerome and Florence (Schierbrock) Kenealy in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was raised in Council Bluffs. When Mary was in the 8th grade, her mother died. She then had to help her father with her brothers. Mary graduated from St. Francis Catholic School in Council Bluffs, and then attended Commercial Extension Business School. She later worked at McDonnell Insurance Agency in Council Bluffs. Mary married John William "Bill" O'Rourke on September 2, 1957, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Neola. After the wedding, their car was placed on a trailer and was in the Hoo Doo Day's Parade. The couple settled on a farm north of Magnolia. Later Mary worked as a clerk at Harvey's Fine Foods. The couple eventually moved into Logan. Bill died on March 1, 2008.

Mary was a member of St. Bridget of Erin Catholic Church in Magnolia and then St. Anne's Catholic Church in Logan.

Mary died on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 88 years and 20 days.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill O'Rourke; one daughter, Mary Ellen O'Rourke; and two brothers, Ray and Tom Kenealy. She is survived by three children, Pat (Mike) Boggs of Sioux City, Iowa, Kathy (Mike) Dick of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jim O'Rourke of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Jennifer Falbo Kraai, Carly Dick, Ross Dick, Ryan Boggs, Killian O'Rourke and Torin O'Rourke; one great granddaughter, Anabelle; two brothers, Leo (Joann) Kenealy of Minden, Iowa and Phil (Pat) Kenealy of Liberty, Missouri; sister-in-law, Joanne Kenealy of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
