Mary Royer

Mary Elizabeth Royer was born on October 19, 1935, in Woodbine, Iowa to Ralph and Blanche (Rayl) Royer. She grew up in Woodbine, graduating in the class of 1954. Mary went on to further her education at the Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1957. Mary’s nursing career lasted for 40 years in Omaha, 20+ of which were spent at Immanuel Hospital. She retired in 1998. Mary was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Omaha.

One of Mary's greatest passions was traveling. Some of her expeditions led her to Europe and the Middle East, where she gained invaluable knowledge and memories to cherish. Beyond her adventures abroad, Mary made an indelible impact through her profession as a nurse. Her dedication to caring for others knew no bounds, and she selflessly served the needs of countless patients throughout her career. Mary's nurturing spirit comforted those in pain and brought solace during moments of uncertainty. Her contributions to the field of healthcare will forever be remembered. Outside of work and travel, Mary found peace in music and was skilled in various forms of needlework. Most of all, family and friends held a special place in Mary's heart.

Mary died on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Newport House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 10 months and six days.
