Michael D Calder was on born May 4, 1935, to Noral D and Marion (Peterson) Calder in Ravenna, Nebraska. Michael was raised near Geneva, Nebraska, attended school, and graduated from high school in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1953. He then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated with a business degree and worked for the Internal Revenue Service. Michael married Donna Fleming and the couple was blessed with three sons. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy. After attending officers training, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant and served a total of 13 years in the military. Michael also served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, Michael worked as an insurance agent until his retirement. On October 10, 1987, Michael married Marjorie Kenkel.

Michael enjoyed the Nebraska Cornhuskers and also the San Diego Chargers (now the Los Angeles Chargers) in the NFL. While in the Navy, Michael served as a lay minister.

Michael died on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Douglas County Rehab Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, four months, and 22 days.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Donna Calder. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Calder of Omaha, Nebraska; three sons, Troy Calder of Clifton, Arizona, Richard Calder of Cuba, Brian Calder of Clifton, Arizona; three grandsons; twin brother, Thomas Calder and his wife Maurine of Sedalia, Missouri; sister, Carol Miller of Dallas, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
