Milton LeRoy Fields was born on April 3, 1937, to Ivan and Opal (Atwood) Field on a family farm north of Spalding, Nebraska. In 1957, they moved to Red Bluff, California. Upon completing high school, he returned to Spalding to eventually marry his sweetheart, Shirley Crosby, on April 19, 1958. In 1970, the couple moved to Logan, Iowa, where they raised their three children: Regina, Randy and Roger. Milton retired from Metropolitan Utilities District, in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1999, after working there for 38 years.

Milton and Shirley enjoyed their cabin at Blue Lake in Onawa, Iowa, for five years. They enjoyed camping, vacationing, and traveling to visit relatives.  Milton truly enjoyed pheasant hunting and driving the country roads with his brother Ken. Milton was an avid video game player, especially Free Cell and Candy Crush. He and Shirley loved square dancing and playing cards.
