Minnie Moores

d. February 13, 2017

Woodbine, Iowa

I, Minnie Marie (Rudolph) Moores, was born August 11, 1925, in Lincoln Township north of Woodbine to Paul and Gladys (Shinn) Rudolph. I grew up southeast of Woodbine where I attended country school and graduated in 1942 from Woodbine High School. After graduating, I worked various jobs including housekeeping, at the Montgomery Ward Catalog Department, and the war plant in Council Bluffs until 1945. On February 14, 1945, I married Kenneth Harold Moores. After getting married, I worked summers at Lazy H Ranch kids ranch; waitressed at Nickerson Farms restaurant for five years; was a bookkeeper at 1st National Bank for 10 years; and Kovar Insurance for five years. I also raised chickens and sold eggs to Woodbine residents for many years. In October 1983, I began my career with Home Interiors. I enjoyed this for 25 years until my health issues let me down. During this time, I also did the bookwork for Stoner Sinclair, Ron's Service and Moores Plumbing. In more recent years, I did the bookwork for Terry's port-a-pot business until I turned 90.

I was baptized into the Christian faith in 1937 and I was a confirmed member of the First Christian Church in Woodbine.

Minnie died on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 91 years, six months, and two days.

I was preceded in death by both my parents; son, George on September 27, 1969; husband, Kenneth on April 24, 2006; brothers, Paul, George, and Donald; grandchildren, Allison and Bryan Dinslage; and great grandson, Mason Moores. I am survived by seven children, Kenneth (Wanda) Moores, Jr. of Woodbine, Zennith (Gola) Wilber of Hastings, Iowa, David (Cheryl) Moores of Woodbine, Patty (Neil) Bracker of Alton, Iowa, Terry Moores and friend Sharon Penrose of Woodbine, Kim (Ralph) Samson of Lacona, Iowa, and Konda (Ron) Slagle of Sac City, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Rudolph of Rancho Cordova, California; sister-in-law, Barbara (Jim) Smyser of Omaha; brother-in-law, Dallas Moores of Sidney, Iowa, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
