Norman Eugene Kuhlman was born on August 11, 1938, in Mapleton, Iowa to Wilbert and Esther (Longlee) Kuhlman. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Iowa. Norman was united in marriage to Judith Marva Pape on March 10, 1958, in Onawa, Iowa and five children were born to this union, Tami, Bradley, Beverly, Norman “Troy”, and Brent.
Norman was an over the road truck driver for many years, working for Blue Star Packing House, Janesville Auto Transport, and Farmland. He and Judy ran a gas station in Pisgah, Iowa for a while and he helped on the farm. Norman also drove the school bus at West Harrison for many years and drove semi for Brad Moore Farms and Scott Johnson Farms. He loved all sports and he coached the little league baseball team that his sons played on. He also coached West Harrison basketball for the 7th and 8th grade boys, which was the team that his grandson Ryan played on.
Norman died on Friday, May 8, 2026, surrounded by his family at his daughter’s home in Blencoe, Iowa at the age of 87 years, eight months and 27 days.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; Judy’s parents, Chester and Opal Pape; brother, Dennis Kuhlman; grandson, Ryan Kuhlman; brothers-in-law, Robert Glassburner, Terry Pape, Tom Bothwell and John Kress; sisters-in-law, Nancy McCue and Dixie Hagemann; and nephew, Clint Bothwell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years and the love of his life, Judy Kuhlman of Moorhead; children, Tami Rife of Blencoe, Bradley (Anita) Kuhlman of Pisgah, Beverly (Greg) Wallis of Woodbine, Iowa, Norman “Troy” (Teri) Kuhlman of Milford, Iowa, and Brent (Julie) Kuhlman of Moorhead; siblings, Ronald (Trudy) Kuhlman, Doug (Cindy) Kuhlman, Carol Kress and Judy Glassburner; siblings-in-law, Gary McCue, Linda Kuhlman, and Peggy Bothwell; best friend, Robert Bockman; 13 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.
