Norman Shinn

Norman "Perry" Shinn was born August 31, 1943, in Woodbine, Iowa to Elda Mae (Jones) and Ralph Albert Shinn. He grew up in the Woodbine area and attended the Woodbine schools. Perry worked at Foodland, Royer Hardward, C & R Hardware, and Schrader Electric. On January 22, 1965, he married Libby Birchard at the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine. He began trucking with Dilt Trucking in Crescent, Iowa. He retired from there in 1994 due to his health problems.

Perry was a member of the Woodbine Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar racing, his family, and fixing things. Perry helped Troy fix up a car for racing in Scribner, Nebraska

Perry died on Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 60 years, five months and 16 days.

Perry was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother and sister. He is survived by his wife Libby of Woodbine, Iowa; daughter Teresa and her husband Curt Bonham of Missouri Valley, Iowa; son Troy Shinn of Burlington, Kentucky; two grandsons Wesley and Ryan; mother Elda Shinn of Woodbine; two sisters Barbara "Bubbles" Shinn of Woodbine, Iowa; Karen and her husband Frank Frazier of Dunlap, Iowa; a special niece "daughter" Shawna Jones of Earling, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
