Oran Kent Skaw was born September 23, 1915, to Nels and Alberta (Wickersham) Skaw in Turin, Iowa.  He graduated from Onawa High School.
   
   Oran married Mariam Henry on November 19, 1941.  Oran proudly served his country during WWII.  After his honorable discharge, the couple farmed in Turin and Pisgah areas until the late 1960s.  Then Oran worked at Williams Machine & Tool Shop in Omaha, Nebraska until he retired.  The family moved to Magnolia in 1992 and Mariam died on January 30, 1994.  Oran loved to write poems and hymns.
   
   Oran died on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa attaining the age of 90 years, seven months, and two days.
   
   Oran was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mariam; and an infant son, Keith.  He is survived by his three sons, Loran Skaw of Poland, John Skaw and Steven Skaw both of Logan, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Skaw and Mary Skaw both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; foster son, Jim Cooper of Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
