Patrick Darrell Hatterman was born June 23, 1949, to Edward and Margaret (Jorgensen) Hatterman in Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised in Dunlap and started his schooling there and then moved to Correctionville, Iowa and graduated from high school there in 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years in the Viet Nam War. He then served in the Army Reserves. Pat married Crystal Tolliver on April 24, 1971, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine. He worked for various companies in Omaha as well as at Foodland in Woodbine and Farmland in Denison. He retired from Farmland in 1995. Pat then helped Chris with the daycare program.

Pat enjoyed camping, fishing, telling fishing stories, bird watching, and wood crafts. He also loved to watch football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and other sports as well as movies. Pat really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and his day care kids. He also enjoyed taking his grandkids to McDonalds for breakfast.

Pat died November 22, 2011, at the Veterans' Hospital in Omaha at the age of 62 years, four months, and 30 days.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Mefferd. He is survived by his wife Chris Hatterman of Woodbine, IA; six children, Lisa (Steve) Nelson of Woodbine, IA, Brian (Leann) Hatterman of Dunlap, IA, Brandy (Bob) Klaahsen of Woodbine, IA, Shannan Houser (fiancé Wesley Stewart) of Hudson, FL, David Hatterman of Iowa City, IA, Amanda Hatterman of Atlantic, IA; 13 grand-children; eight siblings: Mike (Sharon) Hatterman of Omaha, NE, Bob (Claudia) Hatterman of Omaha, NE, Carolyn (Duane) Bostwick of Story City, IA, Dave (Kathie) Hatterman of Dow City, IA, Kris (Dave) Tremel of Woodbine, IA, Gary Hatterman of Phoenix, AZ, Sandy (Dean) Finken of Earling, IA, Cindy (Craig) Johannsen of Schleswig, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
