   Patti Jo (Hipnar) Whitmore was born June 21, 1959, to Glen and Marlene (Mattox) Hipnar in Harlan, Iowa.  She grew up in Shelby and graduated from Shelby High School in 1977.  After graduation, Patti worked for Mutual of Omaha for a few years and then at CDS in Harlan.  She returned to Mutual of Omaha and has worked there for 26 years.  On April 11, 1987, Patti married David Whitmore at the Lewis and Clark Monument in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  The couple lived in Council Bluffs before moving to Logan in 1990.
   
   
   Patti was baptized in the Avoca, Iowa Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Shelby, Iowa.  She attended the Logan United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school.  She enjoyed reading and fishing.  Patti was very dedicated to her work, and Mutual of Omaha honored her by giving her the MVP award on August 14, 2000.  She also loved to organize and plan family get togethers and reunions.  Patti has a collection of over 500 pieces of pink Depression glass that she has found at auctions and antique stores.  When Patti was outdoors, she enjoyed flowers and cardinals.
   
   
   Patti died on Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 45 years, 11 months, and eight days.
   
   
   Patti is survived by her husband, Dave of Logan, Iowa; children Jolene Kay Whitmore, Thomas Dean Whitmore both of Logan, Iowa; step-daughter Jennifer Lynn Whitmore of Omaha, Nebraska; parents, Glen and Marlene Hipnar of Shelby, Iowa, sister, Cindy and her husband Ed Elseman of Avoca, Nebraska; brother, David Hipnar and his wife Pam of Vail, Iowa; mother-in-law, Dorothy Whitmore of Logan, Iowa; four brothers-in-law, Steve Whitmore of Glenwood, Iowa, Terry Whitmore of Logan, Iowa, Ronnie Whitmore of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bob Whitmore of Council Bluffs, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
