Robert "Bob" Glenn Lambert was born on September 19, 1922 in Baltic, South Dakota to parents Arch & Edith Brasel. He grew up in the Dell Rapids, South Dakota area until he was 11 years of age when his family moved to the Dow City area. He attended country school near Dow City. The family then moved south of Dunlap and he attended and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1942. On November 10, 1944, he married Helen Brewster at the Methodist Parsonage in Denison, Iowa. He worked for area farmers. To this union two sons were born, Robert in 1949 and Randy in 1953. In 1954, the family moved to Council Bluffs and Bob farmed. In 1960, he went to work for the Council Bluffs Transit Bus System as a bus driver. In 1965, Bob started working for the Omaha Public Power District. He retired from OPPD in 1987. In 1994, the couple moved to Dow City, Iowa. In March of 2003, they moved back to Council Bluffs.
Bob was a member of the 5th Ave. Methodist Church in Council Bluffs and then the United Methodist Church in Dow City. Bob enjoyed playing softball (and did so until the age of 63), golfing, playing cards and he was a great pie maker.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Leona Mae Lambert and two brothers, Winfred "Jack" & Max Lambert. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen of Council Bluffs; two sons, Robert & Marge Lambert of Red Hill, PA and Randy & Deb Lambert of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren; two brothers, Charles "Swede" & Marian Lambert of Omaha and LuVern "Snooks" Lambert of Dow City and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be given to Wings of Hope or the Dow City United Methodist Church
