Robert G. Loyd

Robert Gale Loyd was born on May 16, 1946, in Pisgah, Iowa to Everett “Howard” and Stacia (Price) Loyd. He grew up in the Mondamin area and attended school there. Bob graduated from West Harrison High School in 1964. He answered the call to serve when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Upon his return home, Bob worked various jobs before starting at the Mondamin Farmers Co-op in 1990, which later became the United Western Co-op. He dedicated 26 years there until his retirement in 2016. Bob then went to work helping Milo and Michael Ruffcorn on the farm. On December 13, 1975, he was united in marriage to Margaret Clark and they were able to spend 50 cherished years together.

Bob’s fondness for the outdoors extended beyond the fields; he found joy in taking his kids camping. He loved the thrill of NASCAR races and the timeless stories of the Old West in the John Wayne movies and was particularly fond of Elvis Presley’s music. Bob was also known for the simple pleasure of visiting with friends and family.

Bob died on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his home outside of Mondamin at the age of 80 years and seven days.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Ashley Loyd; and siblings, Bill, Jack, and Patsy Loyd. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Loyd of Mondamin; children, Gary Loyd and his wife Julie of Omaha, Nebraska, Aaron Loyd of Mondamin, Annette and her husband David Kuhlman of Modale, Iowa, Candace and her husband Lyle Wallis of Pisgah, Iowa, and Damon Marcum and his wife Jackie of Missouri Valley, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Torrey Kuhlman, Brady Kuhlman, Cheyann Straight, Brett Marcum, Darby Himmelberg, Mattingly Marcum, Kolby Kuhlman, Tyler Marcum, Sage Wallis, and Briar Kuhlman; 13 great granddaughters; two great grandson plus one on the way; nieces, Nicole Loyd and Dawna Baxter; and many other relatives and friends.
