Rodney Blaine Anderson was born October 31, 1925, to Ole and Frances (Evans) Anderson in Woodbine, Iowa.  Rodney graduated from Woodbine High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy.  He was a Navy Corpsman getting ready to ship to the South Pacific when he had to take an emergency leave to attend his father's funeral.  When he returned he was reassigned to a hospital in San Diego.  He later learned that the entire unit that was sent to the South Pacific was killed.      Rodney was honorably discharged on September 13, 1944.  Rodney married Geneva Catherine Beck on January 27, 1946.  Rodney worked at a bomber plant in Omaha.  He also was a milkman, a streetcar diver, city bus driver, and a Greyhound bus driver.  He eventually became an over the road trucker.  Rodney retired in 1989.  He moved to Salt Lake City and then returned to Woodbine in 1993.
   
   Rodney was a softhearted person and he loved to visit with people.  His favorite topics of conversation were politics, trivia, jokes, and Paul Harvey stories.  He took in many stray dogs over the years.  Rodney was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan, Iowa and American Legion Weiss Post 143.
   
   Rodney died on Monday, March 20, 2006, at Mercy       Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 80 years, four months, and 20 days.
   
   Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eloise Reif; and brother, Ralph Anderson.  He is survived by his four children, Darwin Anderson of Floral Park, New York, Steven Anderson and his wife Tammy of Omaha, Nebraska, Marylynn Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Debbra and her husband Ldee Lorengel of Hood River, Oregon; brother Donald Anderson of San Diego, California; five grandchildren; three great grand-children; and many other relatives and friends.
