Roger Soukup

Roger R. Soukup, 75 went home to be with the Lord in his home in The Villages on Sunday, March 13, 2016.
Roger was born in Atlantic, Iowa and was raised in Woodbine, Iowa. He was the son of Ferne and Lester Soukup. Roger was raised on the family farm and worked with his dad and grandfather on the farm. He attended school in Woodbine and attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa where he met his wife of 55+ years.

Roger was a member of TKE Fraternity, Noteables barbershop group, 10 years on the Woodbine Fire and Rescue, President of Woodbine Kiwanis, many card clubs and NAWCC membership for clocks.

Roger had varied vocations through his life: Manager of Skagway Drug in Omaha and California. Roger and his wife also owned Community Florist and Gifts in Simi Valley, California, Countryside Timekeepers, Jan's Gold Crown Hallmark Store and Classic Tearoom in Woodbine, Iowa. However, his passion was working on clocks of all kinds. He has served many people over 40 years of repairing clocks. He looked forward to helping people with their treasures. He was owner of Countryside Timekeepers in Woodbine.

Roger is survived by his wife Jan and 2 sons, Tim from Royal Palm Beach, Florida and Mark from El Dorado Hills,California, 2 granddaughters Gabriele and Brianna from El Dorado Hills, California. Roger is also survived by his Mother Ferne from Omaha, Nebraska, a brother Richard and his family from Houston, Texas, a brother-in-law Wesley Brown and family in Tennessee, sister-in-law Lynn Ferrini and family in Modesto, California. Several cousins in Woodbine, Iowa. Roger was preceded in death by his father.

Roger was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Anyone who knew him thought of him as very kind, compassionate, caring and always ready to help anyone. Roger will be greatly missed by his Family and countless friends.
