Ronald John Sondag was born June 20, 1939, to Peter Theodore and Hazel Jane (Smith) Sondag on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised near Dunlap and attended school in Dunlap. Following high school Ronald worked at the Amour Packing Plant. He was then drafted into the United States Army. He served as a medic and was stationed in France. He then served in the Army Reserves. After his honorable discharge, Ronald worked as a mechanic at several businesses. He also had owned and operated a garage and filling station. Ronald enjoyed gardening and sharing all the vegetables with family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed working on puzzles.

Ronald died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at his home in LaVista, Nebraska at the age 77 years, 11 months, and 25 days.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Richard; and two nephews, Christopher and Daniel Sondag. He is survived by five siblings, Robert (Pamela) Sondag of Omaha, Nebraska, Donald (Linda) Sondag of Woodbine, Iowa, Joanne (Alvin) Westphal of Casa Grande, Arizona, Gerald (Linda) Sondag and Carol Sondag all of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
