Rosalie Lydia (Shriver) Heim was born on April 4, 1929, near Persia, Iowa to parents Evan “Steven” and Reeta (Warner) Shriver. She was raised near Persia and graduated from Persia High School. On January 9, 1949, Rosalie married Merle Heim at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan. The couple farmed west of Persia.
Rose was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church. Rose was involved with the women’s church circle, Merry Homemakers Club, and was a 4-H judge at the County Fair. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening, and she was a member of the Red Hats Club. The couple belonged to a card club and a dance club. They also enjoyed square dancing many years ago. Merle died on September 15, 2018.
Rose died on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Risen Son Nursing Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 90 years, one month, and 14 days.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle Heim; three sisters, Eileen Poore, Faye Larson and Deloris Miller; and two infant sisters, Dorine and Sharon. She is survived by four children, Steve Heim and his wife Paula of Persia, Iowa, Linda and her husband Bob Bruck of Black Earth, Wisconsin, Patti and her husband Rick Guill of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Karen Heim-Duthoy and her husband Mike Duthoy of Golden Valley, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, LaVonne Larson of Manchester, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Johnsen of Woodbine, Iowa, and LaVonne and her husband Don Griffith of Webster City, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
