Rosanna May (Hack) Mitchell was born on March 8, 1931 to Perry and Juliette (Baldwin) Hack in Dunlap, Iowa. Rosanna attended country school and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1949. Rosanna married Robert Mitchell on June 19, 1949. The couple farmed northwest of Dunlap and then they moved to their current location in 1960. Rosanna gave piano and organ lessons and later on worked at Bonsall's TV & Appliance and Sullivan Supply.
Rosanna was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church where she was the church organist for 30+ years and active in the UMW. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Rosanna loved to cook and sew for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, bowling and the holidays with Christmas being her favorite holiday. Rosanna played for many funerals, weddings and students for their music contests. Rosanna and Bob enjoyed dancing and many years of fishing trips to Lake Lida in Minnesota.
Rosanna died on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of 85 years, one month and two days.
Rosanna was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert William Mitchell; and brother, Dean Hack. She is survived by her husband, Robert Mitchell; seven children, Tom (Barb) Mitchell of West Des Moines, Iowa, Travis Mitchell of Dunlap, Iowa, Craig (Sharon) Mitchell of Dow City, Iowa, Cindy Mitchell of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Janet (Arlin) Prins of Hartley, Iowa, Julie Mitchell of Winterset, Iowa, Jane (Dave) Schaar of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers, Dwaine Hack of Dunlap, Iowa, Bill (Linda) Hack of Logan; and many other relatives and friends.
