Rozella Baker

     Mary Rozella Baker was born on July 30, 1935, in Woodbine, Iowa to parents Elton and Alma (Brewster) Baker. Rozella graduated from Woodbine High School in 1952. She then attended Graceland College for two years. She began teaching kindergarten in Whiting, Iowa then moved to Marcus, Iowa and taught elementary school there until retiring in 1999. While teaching she took night classes and summer school at Dana College to finish getting her teachers certificate. Rozella moved back to Woodbine in 2001.

     Rozella was a member of the of the Community of Christ in Woodbine and of the American Legion Auxiliary. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching the younger elementary students. Rozella like helping out kids and adults.

     Rozella died on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 91 years and 17 days.

     Rozella was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles Baker and Dwight Baker; sister, Maxine Newell; two nieces, Janet Newell and Kathy Heacock and nephew, Keith Baker. She is survived by nephews, Dwight (Carolyn) Newell of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Kevin Baker of Indiana; great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
