     Russell Lee Mefferd was born on February 14, 1964, in Missouri Valley, Iowa to parents Ronald and Karilyn (Reed) Mefferd. He attended school for many years in Dunlap before graduating from Denison High School in 1983. Russ worked various jobs including IBP in Denison, Hy Vee in Council Bluffs, Smithland Foods in Sioux City, Moores Great Shows Carival, Family Fun Shows Carnival and Reliant Processing in Galva, Iowa.

     Russ enjoyed watching wrestling, working at the carnival, playing pull tabs and listening to music, especially his favorite band KISS. He loved to cook, grill out, spend time with family, spend time at Crawford Creek Park south of Battle Creek and he could always be seen wearing shorts. His favorite football team was the Los Angeles Rams and he loved making fun of the Dallas Cowboys.

     Russ died as a result of an auto accident on Friday, April 28, 2023, near Battle Creek, Iowa at the age of 59 years, two months and 14 days.

     Russ was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Mefferd and son, Corey Mefferd. Russ is survived by his son, Ronnie Mefferd of Battle Creek, Iowa; former wife, Tina Frostell of Oregon; mother, Karilyn Weston of Denison, Iowa; sisters, Ronna Mefferd of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bonnie Mefferd of Denison, Iowa, Kathy (James) Robertson of Vail, Iowa, Cindy Schaben of Reno, Nevada, Brenda Gibbler of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Nicole Corum of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Melvin (Laura) Tague of LaVista, Nebraska; special friends, Dennis Burger of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Greg (Gail) Hughes and Kim Nicodemus; and many other relatives and friends.
