Ruth Heim

Hester Ruth Heim was born June 27, 1929, near Logan, Iowa to Robert P. and Hester (Campbell) Wilson. She attended Linwood Country School and Logan High School graduating in 1947. Ruth taught country school for a couple of years. On August 7, 1949, Ruth married Elmer D. Heim at the Methodist Church in Logan, Iowa. The couple farmed southeast of Logan. Ruth returned to teaching in 1962. She taught first grade at California Junction, Persia, Neola and then Logan. Her last four years she taught third grade. Ruth retired from teaching in 1994.

Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Logan where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, P.E.O., SOS and the Retired School Personnel Club. Ruth had held offices in many of those organizations. After retirement she loved to travel and she also took care of several elderly ladies in the Logan area, including Inez Schemmer. Ruth also enjoyed volunteering around the Logan area.

Ruth died Monday, June 5, 2017, in Arma, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and nine days.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donald and Robert Wilson and sister, Wilma Rutledge. She is survived by her son, Jay (Sharon) Heim of Logan, Iowa; two daughters, Jayne (Bill Samson) Heim of Arma, Kansas and Jaynine (Sean) Warner of Wilmington, Delaware; five grandchildren, Jake (Tamara) Heim, John (Amy) Heim, Austin (Kristina) Heim, Erin Warner, Adam Warner; seven great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
