Ruth Tacy

Ruth Osborne (Kauffman) Tacy was born on August 21, 1922 in Keysville, Virginia to parents Harry F. and Emily (Johns) Kauffman. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Longwood State Teachers College in Farmville, Virginia. Ruth worked in medical records, as a dental assistant and as a motel housekeeper. Ruth married Tom Tacy in May of 1958 in Washington, DC. The couple lived in Council Bluffs. After Tom’s death Ruth and her daughter Mary moved to Woodbine.

Ruth was a long-time member of the Woodbine Presbyterian Church. She loved to read and traveled the world through reading. She loved history and learning about people. She was very generous and loved to give and help people. Ruth enjoyed growing flowers and working at the Harrison County Genealogy Society.

Ruth died on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 96 years, three months and 23 days.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom Tacy; two brothers, Harry F. Kauffman, Jr and Houston Kauffman. She is survived by her daughter, Mary and her husband Duane Bazis of Waterloo, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Ben and his wife Michelle, Jared and Caitlin Bazis; one great grandson, Noah; sister, Nancy Cotton of Greenville, Ohio; brother, Joseph Kauffman of Ringgold, Georgia and many other relatives and friends.
